Hi, I'm Jakob! I'm a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Institute for Fiscal Studies working on issues in public and labor economics. My work largely pertains to tax compliance and tax adminstrative issues in both developed and developing country settings.
I will be on the 2025-2026 academic job market. My job market paper studies the impacts of a tax surcharge in Ecuador that penalizes business ownership from tax havens.
I mainly study tax administrative and tax non-compliance issues, such as non-compliance penalty rates, tax preparers, and tax evasive usage of tax havens. My interests also extend more broadly to applying microeconomic and econometric methods to learning about social issues, such as gender and homelessness.
Prior to moving to London, I completed my PhD in the beautiful Berkeley, California. Before then, I lived in Manhattan and Reims, France, where I finished my undergraduate degrees.
